For the Record:
George Wallace, Producer and Artist

George

George Wallace has had his finger on or near the Red Button since 1973 when his passion for recording first took hold…and he’s been ‘rolling tape’ pretty much ever since.

An accomplished writer, producer, performer, and recording artist, George creates music which speaks of enlightenment and positivity in a world that could really use it. Over a decades-long career which includes a staff-writer position with Screen Gems, a recording deal with CBS/Epic Records, the production of several planetarium show soundtracks, a critically acclaimed three-album set of exercise music for children, a long history of live performance, and the release of no fewer than eight self-produced full-length albums, he has evolved into one of ‘those’ musicians who has redefined the meaning of versatility.

His creative output spans multiple genres, ranging from power-pop to soaring, progressive rock and on into the world of magical, ambient soundscapes, with recent forays into orchestral and choral works. His soundstages are often large, almost cinematic.

More than providing background to some ‘event’, George tends to make music which is the event itself, particularly in his longer compositions. His work is often introspective and spiritual…but not always. When there are lyrics, they speak of love and longing, other times brash satire or political commentary.

George has essentially placed himself in a class all his own by creating refreshing hybrids of musical genres with little regard for modern trends or fads. And, he shows no signs of slowing down.

‘Jordy’ grew up in Philadelphia and received training in classical piano at the prestigious Settlement Music School, where he also took classes in advanced music theory and harmony - all beginning at the tender age of eight. He’d been in numerous church choirs through most of his childhood; this experience led him to put a value on musical excellence.

As a teenager he found himself caught in the crossfire between Motown and the British Invasion; by then he’d also developed a keen appreciation of Brian Wilson’s genius for vocal arranging, which turned into something of a trademark in his own work.

He later attended the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in Composition and Arranging. There, with the encouragement of his colleagues, he acquired a respect for traditional and progressive jazz, yet another source of inspiration from which he has drawn ever since.

From Berklee he sailed straight into the music career with which he is still so completely impassioned and driven by. The years of fulltime gigs with bands slowly gave way to more and more session work and songwriting, and to facilitate these George created AirBorn Music and ASCAP-affiliated Celestial Songs, his production and publishing entities. His songs and instrumental pieces soon found their way to the airwaves and eventually online, where they were taken to heart by avid listeners from around the world.

George is privileged to have ‘pushed faders’ with some of the more notable names in engineering and production, among them: Tony Bongiovi, Jimmy Bralower, Neil Dorfsman, Jason Corsaro, Dave Thoener, and Foreigner’s Mick Jones. The studios (other than his own) where he’s recorded are legendary: Hit Factory, The Record Plant, Electric Lady, and Power Station.

George currently resides in Lancaster, PA, where he’s built a bigger/better incarnation of AirBorn Recording, and is now taking on new projects there. With his characteristic sensitivity and sense of humor, George creates comedic satirical pieces on occasion (thereby eliminating what would have probably been therapist bills) and is already collecting a fresh cache of song ideas, notions, inspirations, and neuroses.

Indeed, this is the stuff of which future music is born…
